Description

Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He's short, he's fast, he's got a ton of potential—and he's the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as The Butcher.

Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile and he doesn't need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny and the truth will get him killed.

But Neil's not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neil's new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil can't walk away from him a second time. Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe he's finally found someone and something worth fighting for.

This book was filled with trigger warnings but it’s full of such lovable messed up characters who go through so much through out this series. I know this isn’t the perfect story and it definitely has its flaws but I will probably always love this series and the foxes 🥺

It’s been so long since I’ve read a good book, and it surprises me a little that this was a book from 2013! I’ve grown to love The Foxes like I knew them as friends. Despite all the characters having their own little world of problems, it definitely felt like a family with a new addition. I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to start the next book! I know I’ll be sad to leave The Foxes after the 3rd book, but I’ll definitely leave with a new love and a soft heart for the team.

The first time I read this book I was so into it that I don’t think I realized how dragged out and king of boring it was. The characters were definitely great and funny but the overall plot wasn’t very interesting. Neil as a whole character honestly didn’t make sense and didn’t really have any valid reasons for his actions which I found kind of stupid(just like Neil). I’m still definitely emotionally attached to the characters just as much as the first time but it still took too much effort that shouldn’t have been needed to finish rereading the book. 3/5.

this book has Big Disgusting Energy and I hate it so much. the writing is absolutely terrible and does a remarkable job of telling, not showing! wow, thanks for giving us terrible time transitions that don’t make sense & character development that’s inconsistent! hey, has this book ever heard of indirect characterization or atmospheric writing? lol.
  • Really love the plot

I think the idea of the story is great and I love that it’s taken slow and split up into 3 separate books to really dive into the plot. However, the style of writing is confusing and times and I had trouble understanding certain parts, especially the beginning. If you give it an honest chance thought it will surprise you!
  • Read this ASAP.

This is by far one of the best book series I’ve had the honor of laying my eyes on. You will be hooked. You might as well get the first one, I mean it’s free for crying out loud.
